It was a great evening, the films were excellent - and the projection quality has come a long way in the last few years.

New evidence gathered in the Southern Ocean indicates that our oceans are already reaching their CO2 capacity, and their ability to absorb future carbon dioxide emissions is reduced.

The possible consequences of ocean acidification are incredibly scary. In short, scientists fear that oceanic organisms would no longer be able to produce calcium carbonate - the stuff that makes cell coverings, shells or skeletons - effectively leading to the total collapse of marine life.

Incidentally, John Singleton recently flew Paris Hilton over to Australia to judge the Miss Bondi Blonde competition. Jaime Wright (girl in the video) won the pageant, although arguably Miss Hilton was the real winner after Singleton reportedly paid her $500,000 for the short visit!
